School Social Worker Ms.
DeFosset
A school social worker is a trained professional available
to all students and parents. The
school social worker works with teachers, administrators, counselors,
psychologists, nurses, speech pathologists, and other staff members to integrate
information in order to assist in solving social, emotional, and academic
problems.
Any student and/or parent at Shepard High School can see
the social worker.
People go to the social worker to get help and/or support
with a difficult issue in life. Students
may go to the social worker in an effort to get help and support, beyond what
they might receive from their counselor, with problems or issues that they have.
School social workers are also familiar with community resources and can
link students and families to the appropriate place.
